Treatment for Long Term Benefits

Vision therapy is a rehabilitative treatment process that can help to strengthen the ocular muscles, creating better cognitive processes between the eyes and the brain. Some vision problems cannot be corrected strictly with prescription eyeglasses and contact lenses, as the issue is neurological rather than refractive.

Vision therapy programs are individually tailored for each patient and can help improve conditions like strabismus (crossed eyes) or amblyopia (lazy eye). Exercises and other procedures help to enhance and strengthen visual skills and eye movement accuracy.

Vision Therapy and Learning Difficulties

Learning difficulties can occur due to poor vision and cognitive abilities. Vision therapy can improve the neural activity between the eyes and the brain, helping children read and learn effectively.

The procedures and exercises are supervised by our well-trained and knowledgeable staff and are an excellent, non-invasive approach to help your child see clearly. After assessing your child, we will be able to create a personalized plan to help improve their eye coordination and strength.

What Conditions Can Vision Therapy Treat?

Vision therapy is an excellent choice as the procedures and exercises are simple and non-invasive, providing improvement for symptoms of various eye conditions.

Amblyopia, or “lazy eye,” is a vision development problem in which the eyes do not cooperate, often appearing as one eye that does not focus on the same object or drifts in a different direction. The condition is caused by poor vision or vision loss in one of the eyes, but can easily be treated in its early stages with corrective lenses and vision therapy.

Strabismus is when your child’s eye(s) are crossed or turned-out. Usually, this condition is due to weak ocular muscles and poor vision alignment. Vision therapy incorporates exercises to retrain the eyes and the muscles surrounding them.

In addition, vision therapy can significantly help with various eye movement disorders such as binocular vision issues, accommodative disorders, and other visual-perceptual disorders.
